Obviously not all risks warrant a fully formalised semi-quantitative risk assessment. It would be too time-consuming, especially for large corporations to perform such assessment on every single corporate risk. That is why Risk Shield® offers a two phase approach.



Firstly a straight forward, industry accepted risk matrix which conforms to the AS/NZS 4360 standard is used to initially log and rate the risk from a qualitative perspective. This matrix can be adjusted to match your own requirements and its use is a reasonably fast and simple process. What this process does is it records an overview in the system of all risks identified per activity for a business unit and highlights areas of concern for further examination.


These high risk areas identified by the risk matrix can then be examined in depth with regular assessments using the semi-quantitative analysis tools included in the Risk Shield® software. These tools identify and measure a risk rating by examining the risk's causal pathways, contributing factors, potential outcomes, current controls and emergency responses.

Only by using such formalized process can you fully understand your enterprise's core risks and allocate resources and counter measures effectively. Also by implementing these formal methodologies you are ensured that you are conforming to regulations and doing what is required by law.
